Powys County Council's National Trading Standards Estate and Letting Agency Team (NTSELAT)

The team will determine whether an individual or business in any part of the United Kingdom is qualified to perform estate agency work under the terms of the EEA 1979. In April 2014, it took over this enforcement role from the Office of Fair Trading (OFT).

 In recent years, there have been calls for the government to tighten regulation by mandating that all estate agents be properly licenced and qualified. The Conservative Party's 2017 Manifesto pledged to "reform and modernise the homebuying process so that it is more efficient and less expensive." The Regulation of Property Agents: Working Group was established in October 2018 to advise the Government on a new regulatory approach to letting, managing, and estate agents, in response to the Government's responses to its calls for evidence on Protecting Consumers in the Letting and Management Agent Market and Improving the Home Buying and Selling Process.
