Till 2014 onwards there were separate counselling being held for all the prestigious colleges operating in the country like IITs, NITs, IIFTs, ISM Dhanbad, but from 2014 onwards the counselling board jointly collaborated to facilitate the counselling under one umbrella and for that the JOSAA 2016 was drafted. o As of now, the sole autonomy goes with Joint Seat Allocation Authority 2015 for all the colleges, however, there are other agencies which might provide the service but they might charge fees for the same and reliability on such bodies are certainly doubtful.
o The eligibility for admission into NITs is simple, the candidates will have to go through JEE Main Paper 1 (B.E and B.Tech) and JEE Main Paper 2 (B.Arch and B. Planning). The candidates who have qualified in these two papers of JEE Main can get the chance to get into any of the NITs; however, passing in the exam doesn’t guarantee a seat in the colleges.
o The counselling body has no power of its own to declare the JEE Main Rank List, they rank list is specifically delivered by the apex board of JEE Main.
o The candidates can visit the Joint Seat Allocation Authority for this purpose. The seat matrix and all other details are specifically mentioned for the purpose of admission.
o The candidates are required to order the choices based on the decreasing order of the preference.
o The candidates can apply for three categories under the counselling round. They can apply under the All India Level, Home State level and other state level for the counselling.
o The seat quotas are available for IITs and NITs is All India.
