Working with this private, Ontario-based company is the first step in becoming a police officer or constable in Ontario-based service. The firm’s works to give law enforcement and emergency services applicants a positive, meaningful experience, by providing a fair and equitable assessment and standardized testing for clients. They provide objective services, and hold themselves accountable to the needs of their clients.

They provide standardized testing for a variety of career paths, including work as a firefighter, in nuclear security, parking enforcement, in the York Region Transit, GO transit, TTT Transit Enforcement Special Constable, and as a police or special constable.

Special constables are individuals who are responsible for helping to provide security in court, by transporting prisoners to and from courts and detention units, ensuring the safety and security of the prisoners, and helping to update and maintain administrative records.

Applicant Testing Services was hired by the Ontario Association of Chiefs of Police to run the pre-interview screenings and standardized tests.

The first step, as outlined by Applicant Testing Services, is to conduct several different self-assessments, including an applicant’s medical requirements, and reading about what it means to be a police constable.

What Does It Mean to Be a Police Constable?
Officers work in the public to maintain and ensure a safe community for people of all cultures, backgrounds, and races. Applicant Testing Services and the Ontario Association of Chiefs of Police have, together, defined four key responsibilities for Ontario constables:

●Preserving the peace;
●Preventing crime and providing assistance to others also working for prevention;
●Assisting crime victims; and
●Apprehending, charging, and executing warrants for offenders.

Where does Applicant Testing Services Come In?
Following the self-assessments, applicants will register for the various written tests that are administered by Applicant Testing Services. These include:
●PATI - Police Analytical Thinking Inventory
●WCT - Written Communication Test
●PREP - Physical Readiness Evaluation

Once an applicant has passed the three written tests, they can take the second stage of testing, which includes a vision and hearing assessment and the B-PAD, or the behavioural personnel assessment device.
