A tooth can get partially dislodged from the socket or it can get fully disconnected, leaving the tooth hanging from the dental nerve or root. Dental avulsion or dislodgement may be caused due to harsh physical activity, contact sports and sudden accidents.

If Partial tooth Dislodgement happens immediate medical help should be sorted as it will help to avert complications and will be helpful in preserving the original tooth structure. If the dislodgement has happened due to a head injury or a heavy blow, emergency medical aid is must to handle these conditions, after which oral trauma can be attended to by dental surgeons and specialists.

In the emergency care, the patients are first treated with painkillers to help lessen the pain and discomfort. Icepacks are also applied locally to soothe the swelling and bruising. The patients may feel like touching the loosened teeth or wiggling it, but this should be avoided as this can lead to more damage and finally tooth loss.

In the clinic, the dentist will examine the oral condition and determine how severe the injury is. The dislodged tooth is cleaned to ensure infection doesn’t develop and then subjected to treatment. Local anesthesia is used to allow painless treatment. In case the existing tooth can be replaced, tooth socket is made so that the tooth can be replanted. During the treatment the tooth is kept in place with the help of a dental splint.

Emergency treatment is very important as it helps the tooth to grow in the same position and the patient retains the natural teeth setting. During the healing process the dental splint keeps the tooth lodged in its place and proper alignment is maintained. Once the gum tissues heal, the dentist may discuss further treatment like orthodontic treatment.

Impacted wisdom teeth are another important condition, which can cause a lot of discomfort to a person. The third molars that are located at the back of the mouth don’t get enough space to emerge and grow normally. These are also known as wisdom teeth and are usually 4 in number, two on the upper jaw and two on the lower.

It is essential to get medical help to address wisdom teeth as they may not be free of disease even though they don’t reflect any symptoms. Since, there isn’t enough room for the wisdom teeth to come out, it is not easy to reach them and clean them well.

Younger adults may not be affected by any serious complication. Dealing with wisdom teeth becomes harder and may lead to complications in older adults.

Some, dentists are of the view that the wisdom teeth may not be a big issue later if a young person is not facing problem.

The teeth should be monitored for decay and gum disease and other complications. Teeth removal can be recommended if there are issues.
