Your website should have certain information and tools depending on the type of site it is. It should include SEO and links and details on services, the history of when you started, what your ethos as a business is and more. It should be easy to navigate and quick to load. That means while it should look great, there should not be too much style with little substance. Overbusy websites are slow to load and that drives people away. It is a good idea to have a site that loads on phones since so many people access the internet from them.

Basically when someone does a search on anything connected to what you offer, you want your site to be displayed in their search results. When search engines do their search they then rank the sites in order of what they think is most relevant. Sites where SEO is done well are ones that rank higher.
