Review of Yamaha Fascino 125

Posted by Digital Marketer on October 5th, 2022

Yamaha's 125cc scooters, the Fascino 125, and the RayZR 125 have been upgraded for 2021. These changes put them in line with the competition. The hybrid technology, Yamaha says enhances performance without reducing fuel economy, is the primary talking point of the updated versions of both scooters.

We have hopped on both scooters and found that they serve distinct demographics despite their superficial similarities. What is new on the RayZR 125 is detailed here; now, let's compare it against the latest iteration of the Fascino 125 Hybrid and see how it stacks up.

Varieties and Costs

Yamaha has introduced the Fascino 125 Fi, which retails for Rs. 66,430. ( Ex-showroom, Delhi). Recent months have witnessed a rise in pricing, with the lowest end of the spectrum currently beginning at Rs 68,730. There are many colors for Yamaha Fascinos, including cyan blue, red, yellow, black, matte blue, suave copper, dark matte blue, and dark matte blue.

The Hybrid Motor Of The Yamaha Fascino 125

The Yamaha Fascino 125 Hybrid retains the same 8.04bhp at 6500rpm and 10.3Nm at 5000rpm BS6-compliant 125cc single-cylinder, fuel-injected engine. Even though the horsepower is the same, Yamaha added a Smart Motor Generator, a tiny electric motor, to this Fi Hybrid model, which increased the torque by 0.7Nm (SMG). This is the Hybrid technology the company wants you to pay more money for, and it does what it says it would. Yamaha says that the Fascino's speedier acceleration results from the electric motor, which is partially accurate. As the vehicle begins to move, the SMG system provides an assist to rev the engine. While moving uphill, the system kicks in to make up for the ICE engines delay and provide a little more thrust. In addition to a quiet ignition, SMG guarantees a smooth and powerful start. Thumb the start button, and the Fascino comes to life with minimum sound.

The hybrid version of the Yamaha Fascino 125 has more zip than the regular Fascino 125. It has better zero-to-eighty-five kph start-to-finish acceleration and maintains a constant velocity distribution throughout the acceleration curve. Even at full throttle, the engine produces no discernible vibrations, ensuring a smooth and worry-free experience. We measured its highest speed to be 95kph, so we know that is the absolute most it can go.

Also enabled by the SMG is a hands-free automated start/stop function that performs well. As soon as you stop, the engine turns off and restarts as soon as the throttle is turned on. While 4% may not seem like a lot, Yamaha states that by using the start/stop function, you may save up to 4% extra gasoline. We got 52 kilometers per liter of gas out of the Fascino Hybrid (in mixed riding conditions). With a fuel capacity of 5.2 liters, it can go around 260 kilometers on a single fill-up.

Engine and Efficiency

Yamaha went all out and upgraded from a 113cc engine to a 125cc one, which is more powerful and uses less gas. Fascino's engine generates 8.2PS of maximum power and 9.7Nm of maximum torque, much like those found in the company is other scooters. Eventually, meeting BS6 standards will allow the 125cc FI engine to provide 30% higher power and 16% greater fuel economy. This should allow the new Fascino 125 to achieve a fuel economy of around 76 km/l.

Conclusion

Yamaha Fascino 125 Specification has introduced a new market category of cheap, retro-styled scooters with the Fascino 125Fi. However, the scooter is not very innovative, mechanically speaking, despite its flashy appearance. The scooter's engine, a 125cc unit, is adequate for its intended use and is designed with fuel economy in mind.
