A Beginners Guide to Online Poker: Introduction

Posted by kibego5164 on October 15th, 2022

Before you do what just about any new online player does, which I came to master the method as "The Newbie Circle of Death," I've 5 very basic ideas for you to take into consideration. (This article isn't for advanced players or people who would like to tweak their game. This guide was created as nothing more than to greatly help new players prevent the mistakes I've made. I don't take credit for all of these ideas, and I discovered them as I went along; but I describe everything in ways which makes the most sense to me.)

1) You don't know everything you don't know. This was my biggest problem, I simply just didn't know. You might not take exactly the same position I was, but if I had to guess, I'd think you are. You almost certainly have seen poker on television and thought, "wow, if he is able to be on tv I can too!" or "I crush my home game each week, I wish to quit my job and play!" This was my attitude as I was starting and I came to appreciate it had been my biggest downfall.

It is very good to possess confidence in your game and to 먹튀검증 you're a winning player. However, belief and truth is two very different things. Let's take a look at my personal situation. I began to play poker after I watched the 2003 World Series of Poker on ESPN. I saw the bad beats, the big bluffs, and needless to say, the money. I needed in. I knew nothing about the overall game except there clearly was a lot of money on the line. But let's look only a little closer.

Do you know why televised poker is so successful? Because they choose what you watch. What most people don't realize, is any particular one hour poker program you only watched was really a 10 hour long final table battle. Before that 10 hour long final table, it was a 3 day event of hundreds (sometimes thousands) of individuals playing for 10-12 hours every day.

Now, after saying that consider this. Remember I said they choose everything you watch? Well, they choose to show you the most exciting confrontations. Those big bluffs, the amazing call downs with bottom pair, the one-outers on the river; sure they are a part of the game, but not really a huge one. But, if you are anything like I was, I wanted to do exactly that! I desired to feel that I pushed someone around, or that I earned a pot. It felt good in my experience, and when it worked, I was the best. But when it didn't work, "How could he call me with this?!?"

Also, let's look at your house game. Perhaps you have stopped to judge the caliber of friends and family play? Individuals you are playing with are likely so bad to the point where you may think you are good. In my experience, I've enjoyed some people who didn't understand what blinds were, played each hand, did not know you might raise preflop, etc. You are able to notice these exact things and not be good yourself, just better compared to the worst. Do not let this head to your face thinking you are a poker God.

Primarily, when people start out playing online poker they start small. All online poker rooms have cash game as low as $.05 - $.10 blinds, and tournaments that you could play for only a little as . I'd like to give you a little secret; you need not be fancy when playing low stakes. I've beaten low and mid stakes no-limit hold'em for years, and I wouldn't even consider myself a first class player. You should just have an ABC approach to what to do. Learn basic preflop strategy, learn basic postflop strategy, and understand position. These are 3 very basic principles and for me are the inspiration to a great poker game. I will vaguely touch base using them, however not in detail, that is for an alternative article. Also, if I went into every possible situation or hand, this would be a very long read.
