Steps for quality mobile application testing

As we all know, the IT sector has rapidly increased competition day by day. All companies want to achieve a sky-high position in the market. Especially in the testing field, software testing is very much demanded in the industry of software. In mobile application testing, a typical end-to-end testing process is required or some steps that go as follows:

Step 1: The first and most crucial step is to prepare a plan and strategy for the mobile application testing. It is better to plan the list of all the cases to be tested. This step includes several activities such as determining the prerequisites, determining the app type, identifying the targeted devices, etc.

Step 2: The next step is to identify the essential testing types. As consumers have different mobile devices, it is necessary to ensure that the application performs well on Android and iOS devices. So, this will help to identify all the potential errors and would help to meet the objective of the mobile application effectively and efficiently. Initially, it is challenging to make the choice of whether mobile testing applications should be performed manually or automated.

Step 3: In this step, the tester needs to design a test script or test case. They both are pretty similar. The succession of steps is based on the test case and test script, which helps execute the particular mobile application test. For the smooth execution and testing of the application, test cases, and test scripts are crucial in designing the mobile application scenarios. Defining the test cases for a mobile application is dependent on the type of test the testers want to run. The mobile application tests are split up into two groups which are as follows:

  • Functional testing includes Unit testing, System testing, Integration testing, Interface testing, Regression testing, and Beta/acceptance testing.

  • Non-Functional testing includes Security testing, Stress testing, Reliability testing, Volume testing, Performance testing, Load testing, Usability testing, and Localization testing.

Step 4: Another crucial step is to set up the right test environment, ensuring the optimum mobile application testing success. The testing environment is where the test is performed while analyzing and arranging the codes and devices.

Step 5: There are some testers who prefer automation testing over manual testing but it’s recommended to use both testing types whether it is manual or automated. When it comes to automation testing it's important to choose the right testing tool. And when it comes to manual testing which does not require an initial investment means it gets to start the test as soon as possible.
