Get static mixers and inline mixers for effectively completing tasks

Static mixers disrupt and divert liquid that is pumped into its pipeline with the help of baffles that are fitted to the pipe. These devices are low shear and are not at all complicated in design as well as use. The baffles which are the component of this type of mixer are fixed and are configured in helical form. These baffles can create axial and radial flow and are suitable for blending viscous liquids or heat transfer. As is evident from the name, this mixer does not have any moving components and requires an auxiliary pump to create the flow of liquid through its pipeline.

These devices are very effective in accomplishing complex blending tasks that are simple in-line. Blending can be done between liquid- liquid and adding gases to liquids. Static mixer is however not suitable for affecting more demanding tasks. One cannot mix liquids of different viscosity, and more so if the liquids are of extremely different viscosity. Also, it cannot be used for producing fine emulsions, dissolving solids, disintegrating solids, creating suspensions. It is not useful if the task involves handling materials which react when mixed together.

These types of tasks require high shear mixer, preferably In-Line mixers that have capacity to self-pump. There are options available in the market to choose from quality mixers that have the ability to pump up to 50,000 gallons per hour. Good and efficient in-line mixers can do the job of a static mixer with auxiliary pump. This leads to a huge improvement in the quality of product that is obtained. Not to mention the process is also efficient with saves both time and energy.

In case of reduction of larger amount of particle or if greater globule size is required, In-Line mixers can be installed after static mixer has done its job. This is necessary so that these two types of mixers can work together and what cannot be achieved by static mixers can be completed by In-Line mixers. The former is capable of creating coarse premix. This can be passed on to Inline Mixerwhere it can be exposed to powerfully high shear which would result in a product with finer particles or smaller globules. The product so obtained will also be homogeneous.

The idea of understanding the working of both static and In-Line mixers is to ensure one can understand what type of mixer would be the best for their tasks. However, from the above analysis it is quite clear, both types of mixes are important to get wide variety of jobs done and to also have better quality product.
