Hurricane watches are usually announced 48 hours before they expect tropical storm-force winds– 39 to 73 miles per hour– to start. Professionals issue hurricane warnings 36 hours before tropical-storm-force winds are expected to begin and which may allow residents the time to prepare for the storm.

1. Prepare an Emergency Kit

If you live in areas where Hurricanes have been founded several times, you should be well prepared for it. The kit should include the following:

For Drinking water.

Food (a supply of non-perishable food)

First aid kit

Flashlight

Extra batteries

Battery-powered or hand crank radio

A seven-day supply of medications

Baby and pet supplies (if needed)

Sanitation and personal hygiene items

Whistle (to signal for help)

It would be best if you searched for shelters like hotels where your pets can fit in or it could be comfortable. 

Find hotels or shelters so that they can be safe. 

3. Save Emergency Numbers

4. Prepare Vehicles

Ensure all vehicles are set for any emergency pit by setting all the gas tanks and moving all cars into garages.

For safety, cover all windows with storm shutters or specific pieces of plywood windows with nails.

6. Create a Family Plan

Create a plan and ensure all family members know and understand it. The plan for which you should need to be safe, a pits plan, etc.

If you are separated, you’ll have someone with whom family members can check-in.

8. Prepare Devices
