Formula feeding your child: Some tips

There could be a reason why you are unable to breastfeed or give breast milk to your child. Once you've made an informed selection, you should feel confident, supported, and well-equipped to properly supply your child with adequate enfagrow a+ nutritional milk powder for their wellness and well-being.

Different types of formula

1. The powdered formula is the cheapest option and can be stored for up to one month after unpacking. To avoid mistakes in preparation, it must be measured precisely using the accompanying scoop. Powdered formulations are not sterile. Bacteria can grow if preparation procedures are not followed correctly.

2. Liquid concentrate is more costly as compared to powder and should be used within 48 hours of unpacking the container.Although it is convenient to measure and combine, there is still a possibility of measuring inaccuracy if the preparation directions are not followed properly.

3. The most pricey formula is ready-to-feed, but it is also the most comfortable, especially while travelling. It does not need to be mixed with sterile water and should be used within 48 hrs of opening.

The formula should be prepared and fed safely

  • Make the enfagrow A+ formula milk according to the package guidelines.
  • Wipe down kitchen counters and gently wash hands with soap and lukewarm water.
  • To avoid under and over-dilution, measure the water and formula precisely.
  • All portions of the feeding system should be washed in warm soapy water, rinsed thoroughly, and then immersed in boiling water for a minimum of two mins.
  • Sterilize the nipples, bottles, caps, and rings before making any type of formula till the child is 4 months old.
  • For precise measuring, combine the ingredients in a glass measuring cup.
  • To sterilise water, bring a spotless, chilled pot of water to a boil for two mins. Allow the water to cool and dry before combining it with the recipe.
  • Chill the bottle beneath cold running water before serving (to avoid scorching) and before preserving it in the fridge.
  • Put a few droplets of milk on your wrist to test the temperature. It should feel warm or even chilly, not excessively heated or scorching.
  • Warm a cold bottle by holding it beneath warm running water or placing it in a bottle heater. Before giving the formula milk to your infant, thoroughly mix it and check the temperature. Warming bottles in the microwave may cause hot patches, which can damage the nutrients and burn your child's lips.

Powdered infant formula

For term newborns under two months of age or all babies if the enfagrow powder will not be used immediately after mixing: Bring the water to a boil for a minimum of two mins. Combine the water and formula powder that is at least 70 degrees Celsius.

If the powdered formula is to be given immediately after mixing, for term babies two months or older: To make the formula, you may utilize previously boiled water that has been reduced to ambient temperature. Earlier boiled water could be kept at ambient temperature for a maximum of 24 hours in a sterilised closed container or the fridge for a maximum of 48 hours.

Important storage advice

  • Powdered infant formula: Preserve open containers in a dry, cool location and utilize them within one month. Cold storage of powdered infant formula is not suggested since it might raise moisture content and cause clumping and spoiling.
  • Concentrated liquid or ready-to-feed formula: Refrigerate any open cans and utilize within 48 hrs.
  • Unopened containers of infant formula should be kept in a dry, cool place.
  • Prepared bottles should be refrigerated and used within 24 hours.
  • Any formula that has not been swallowed by the infant within two hours should be discarded.
  • The formula should not be frozen.
  • Do not use the formula after the expiration date.

Conclusion

When your infant is sleeping, liquids start to pool in their mouth. When your child is falling asleep, do not give them a bottle. Putting your infant to sleep with a bottle of milk or other sweetened beverages is dangerous and can lead to tooth disease.
