The reason for this is that essay writing is so essential that some professors prefer to give an essay assignment instead of a quiz. A writing project requires the student to apply extensive research techniques, and good writing techniques and it also requires them to have a thorough knowledge of multiple citation styles. Due to these complexities, most professors prefer assigning an essay writing assignment. They also consider essay writing as a creative activity where students get a chance to explore their hidden personalities.

On the other hand, students are required to reproduce the knowledge in the case of a quiz where they might not learn anything new. Due to this major issue, writing an essay is quite a hectic task for students and if you are feeling the same then you are not alone in this dilemma. There are thousands of students living in this situation and it can be resolved by getting help from a professional essay writer on any topic. An academic writer knows all the techniques and principles of writing a good essay and where and how to apply those techniques whether it is a normal essay or a research paper, or a dissertation.

One of these techniques is making use of rhetorical devices in your essay. Rhetorical devices play an important role in your essay as they make your essay easier to understand. In simple terms, rhetorical devices mean applying stylistic and persuasive techniques that help you convey your point of view to your audience. However, you need to make sure that such an essay must convey concise meaning where you need to show emotional appeal. Emotions help you in developing a connection with your audience. You can make the audience develop an attachment to the content by using relevant language. On top of this, make sure to include multiple arguments in the essay. Your essay would mean nothing if it does not include multiple arguments in body paragraphs. Arguments give direction to your essay and you can also add relevant facts and figures.

The following five rhetorical devices can be very useful while writing an exceptional essay:

  1. Anadiplosis

This is a stylistic technique that writers or poets often employ to enhance the beauty and appeal of their text. Anadiplosis means repeating the last word of one clause in the next clause following the first clause. Using this technique in the essay might be difficult for some students at first because I remember when I started to write my essay in high school, though I knew what anadiplosis was, I could not incorporate it in my essay. The use of anadiplosis creates smoothness in writing and a reader does not get confused while reading a paragraph. For example:

  • Talent is an embellishment; an embellishment is also a concealment. – Nietzsche

The repetition of the word 'an embellishment' in the above sentence is anadiplosis.

  1. Anaphora

Anaphora is another important technique to use while writing an essay because rhetoric is not merely a statement. It is more than that because through rhetoric you can not only write a memorable essay but an impactful one too. The rhetoric should be compelling only then it would have a lasting impact on the audience. An author can create a lasting impact by employing the technique of Anaphora. This technique is used to reinforce, emphasize and clarify the meaning. The writer does this by repeating a certain word in successive clauses. For example, the following quote from Charles Dickens's A Tale of Two Cities demonstrates the use of Anaphora:

  • It was the best of times, it was the worst of times, it was the age of wisdom, it was the age of foolishness, it was the epoch of belief, it was the epoch of incredulity, it was the season of light.

Words in bold are examples of anaphora.

  1. Chiasmus

It is also an important rhetorical device in which a complete sentence is presented in one specific sequence. You might find it slightly difficult because it requires certain expertise. Remember that you can always get help from an academic essay writing service with your essay. Such a service would ensure the proper use of rhetorical devices. Moving on, writers often use Chiasmus to create an artistic effect in their writing by reversing the structure of the following clause For example:

  • Ask not what a country can do for you – ask what you can do for your country.

The sentence delivers a thought-provoking message with the use of a personal connection.

  1. Progressio

Progressio includes detail of a sentence from two perspectives and it can be easily done by writing a sentence in the opposite form. In simple sentences, progressio cannot be achieved by stating one thing and then stating its opposite. Progressio is mostly used in poetry where a poet wants to deliver a comprehensive yet concise message. For example:

  • A time to die; a time to be born, a time to plant, a time to reap; a time to kill, a time to heal.

The sentence shows the precise use of opposite words and an example of progression.

  1. Euphemism

The use of Euphemisms might be difficult to follow and apply in an essay. While writing an essay you should be able to use a pleasant phrase for a harsh situation. It means, if you want to show your anger or scold someone then you should use your words carefully because academic writing discourages the use of curse words. For example:

  • If you want to use words like poor people or slum then in the case of euphemism you should use a phrase like 'culturally deprived environment'.
  • The phrase house cleaning lady would be ‘domestic engineering.’
