Canada has drastically enhanced its intake of immigrants for boosting the economy even as it faces a scarcity of skilled workers. It approved 405,000 PR Visas in the year 2021 the highest so far.

The Immigration Levels Plan for 2023-2025 was announced by Canada recently. Accordingly, the nation plans to approve 465,000 fresh PR Visa holders in 2013. The target for 2024 and 2025 is 485,000 and 500,000 fresh PR Visa holders respectively. It implies nearly 1.5 million fresh Canada PR Visa holders in the upcoming 3 years.

Why Canada is highly prioritizing immigration?

Two major factors are driving the increasing immigration targets of Canada. One is the severe scarcity of skilled workers and the second is the increasing number of unfilled job openings. Currently, the nation has 1 million job openings.
