Which is the Best Way to Learn Korean Language?
Posted by ROLLING KOREA on June 27th, 2016
The Korean language is known as a ‘language isolate,’ which means that it does not seem to have any relationship with other languages. This makes the Korean language all the more unique—and this uniqueness has its advantages and disadvantages for learners. There are many ways to learn this language. Combining several methods may be best:
• Receive formal education – Bring out the books and head to the classroom. Formal Korean training can be very helpful if you truly want to learn how to speak fluently. That said, it has its drawbacks when it comes to the actual application of the language to everyday living.
• Go to Korea – Visiting the country and immersing yourself in everyday Korean life is an excellent idea. Of course, you will struggle for weeks (if not months), but you will get better the more you hear and use Korean.
• Talk to Korean language speakers – The best way to truly master the language is to ask for help from native Korean language speakers. Don’t be afraid to engage in conversation using words and phrases you have learned. They might laugh at your mistakes, but it’s all in good fun. Koreans appreciate foreigners who are taking time to learn their language.
• Self-learn – Immerse yourself in Korean shows and music videos. During your free time, listen to Korean songs and familiarize yourself with the Korean alphabet. You can also go online and join forums.
So, which of the following is the best way to learn the Korean language? The answer is a combination of all! It is definitely a good idea to go to Korea if you want to learn the language. Receiving Korean language education from trained teachers in Korea can fast track your progress. Learning a language is about commitment, and you should surround and familiarize yourself with it. You can talk to locals and make friends with locals to improve your conversational Korean language skills. By being in Korea, you are actively learning (and are actually forced to learn).
Find a language institute in Korea that caters specifically to foreign learners. Check out what their courses include. Are they only going to provide a traditional classroom type of teaching, or do they offer a balance of indoor and outdoor activities for Korean language learners? The latter is better. The best Korean language institutes focus on visual learning and offer speaking-oriented courses.
