Airport Automated Security Screening Market is expanding rapidly with Leidos completing the acquisition

In the early 1990s, airport security screening procedures were automated. Metal detectors and wand searches were the system's initial components, but soon computers and wireless technology were used to remotely arm, disable, and deactivate security elements. With the incorporation of more recent security methods, such as digital imaging, proximity cards, proximity monitoring, and biometric authentication systems, airport security is continuing to progress. Passengers' ID cards or signatures can be quickly processed using these technologies as they move past metal detectors. Airport security procedures have advanced and are currently regarded as the best in the business.

The Security Detection and Automation Businesses of L3Harris Technologies were recently bought by Leidos, a U.S.-based defense and aviation technology firm, in May 2020 to develop a global security and detection portfolio.

In many different ways, using an automated security screening system can be highly beneficial. Another great benefit of an automated security screening system is that it will aid in crime prevention. This crime occurs far too frequently near the airport. Airport security must now be enhanced more than ever because of the rise in air traffic. Air travel is becoming more and more popular since it is more effective, safe, and swift than other kinds of transportation. According to the International Civil Aviation Organization (ICAO), there were almost 4.3 billion passengers transported on scheduled flights in 2018, up 6.4% from the previous year. Additionally, the demand for new aircraft has increased significantly, according to aviation makers. Airbus recently delivered 49 aircraft and received orders in August 2020.
