Afcons Infrastructure commissions 4 CDE Asia sand washing plants for the successful completion of the 2nd & 14th Package of the Samruddhi Mahamarg Expressway Project in Maharashtra

Building dreams through construction

Afcons Infrastructure Limited is one of India's top infrastructure development companies with a diverse experience and wide reach in more than 25 countries. Currently, they are a prominent contributor to India’s biggest expressway project- Samruddhi Mahamarg Expressway, connecting Nagpur and Mumbai.  The expressway is planned to be 6-lane wide (expandable to 8), 701 km long, and access-controlled and slated to reduce commute time between Mumbai and Nagpur from 14 hours to 8 hours.

Afcons is a prominent contributor to the 2nd and 14th Packages of the project potentially comprising 71.5 km. When it came to the uncompromised quality of consistently graded sustainable M-sand required for the project, Afcons chose CDE Asia, the leading provider of sustainable sand solutions in the country.

Package 14: CDE Asia lives up to Afcons’s expectations with its best-in-class models of Combo

Package 14, which connects villages Taranganpada and Vashala BK, is the project’s highlight. It comprises Maharashtra’s longest and widest road tunnels. The twin tunnels are 7.78km long and 17.6m wide. The major requirement for this package was a constant supply of Zone II graded M-Sand.

For accomplishing this landmark project, we introduced Afcons to our finest product from CDE Asia’s flagship Combo platform – Combo X70.

The requisition for the Combo X70 plant was made in early 2020 and was commissioned in June 2020 amidst the ongoing pandemic. The nationwide lockdown didn’t deter our client's workflow and we were determined to provide our wholehearted support in completing this milestone project.

Combo X70: Designed to Power-Up

Combo X70 is equipped with feeding, grading, dewatering, water recycling, conveying, and sludge handling, all in one machine. The ambitious plant has zero liquid discharge and a 95% water recycling solution with minimal maintenance to process an accurate cut point of 75 microns of fine particles. The patented Hydrocyclone and thickener ensures consistent production of M-sand quality as per IS specifications. In line with the basic environmental requirement for this project, Combo X70 guarantees zero waste and controlled silt production which places it ahead of its competitors. The Combo sand washing plants from CDE Asia’s flagship ensure the least consumption of cement in the overall construction.

The Afcons officials were satisfied with the convincing pitch set forth by CDE’s sales experts and resolved to go ahead with the proposed plant.

The Combo plants were operational for about 14000 hours and produced nearly 8.40 Lakh Tonnes of graded concrete sand for the package.

2nd Package: CDE Asia has the perfect answer for low-water-reliant technology

The scope of work for package 2 included the construction of two interchanges, 12 service roads, seven flyovers, three major bridges, three Road over bridges (ROB), 102 cross sections, 17 minor bridges, 19 VUPs, 12 PUPs, 81 culvert boxes, and seven canal bridges; connecting Khadki to Pimpalgaon in Wardha.

Due to the scarcity of water at the work site and precincts, Afcons was eager to explore water-saving technologies to ensure a consistent quality of M-SandWell-versed with the client’s requirements, we introduced them to the most efficient Air Classification System – Sirocco W100.

The Sirocco W100 system is designed for rapid set-up and has the lowest footprint on-site allowing users to magnify the return on their investment by producing high-quality products ready for use in downstream operations.

Some eccentric features of the futuristic plant include a zero requirement for an external fan, bag house, airlocks, valves, and dampers; provides effortless user control with adjustable fan motor RPM & removable selector blades. The plant has a unique dust suppression technology for a cleaner & safer site.

Sirocco W100: Integrated to perfection

Sirocco W100 boosts material retention within the circuit and ensures maximum production and minimizes waste.

The Sirocco W100 has a feed capacity of 60 -70 TPH and is integrated with the Feeding system, Product stockpile conveyor, Dust suppression system, Control Panel, etc. The installed power is 45 KW, this could be the lowest power cost per Ton of feed for the range of sand processing technology available in the industry.

Afcons Infrastructure accomplished Package 2 of the project way ahead of schedule, thanks to the Air Classification system by CDE Asia that perfectly fit their need for minimal water use in M-Sand production. It was the first company in the entire project to complete the overall work on Samruddhi Mahamarg in Wardha District.
