You have various feminine hygiene products today with their own purposes and benefits. One of them is panty liner pads. A wonderful product indeed, it is a great friend to women which helps them to keep their intimate region hygienic and fresh everyday. But what exactly is it and how is it any different from the sanitary pads that you usually use? Let's find it all out here.
What is a Panty Liner
Panty liners are a type of feminine hygiene product that can be used daily. They are similar to sanitary napkins but are meant to be used during your non-period days for all-day protection and freshness. These are simple and thin pads with cottony soft and absorbent centers that catch vaginal discharge.
Although this discharge is quite normal and rather important as it forms a part of the self-cleansing ritual of your vagina, an excess of it can be discomforting. It can stain your clothes and give you a tacky wet feeling. Hence, women’s panty liners are used to provide you with that fresh and clean sensation that you desire.
Difference Between Panty Liner and Sanitary Napkin
If you usually purchase sanitary pads online for managing your menstrual periods, you know what they are. They are soft pads that you stick inside your panty to soak up the menstrual blood and prevent staining your clothes. Panty liners work in a similar way but are still fundamentally different.
Liners are much thinner than pads and also much less absorbent. While sanitary napkins can absorb a large quantity of fluid, viz. menstrual blood, panty liners are designed to wick away light fluid discharge from your vagina. This light fluid content can be white vaginal discharge, pre or post-menstrual spotting, or negligible urine leakage.
Can You Use Sanitary Napkins Instead of Panty Liners
While both panty liners and napkins are used and work in the same way it is not advisable to use the latter every day. Firstly, you do not require something so thick and absorbent as napkins daily as the everyday discharge is minimal. Secondly, liners are much thinner and therefore allow your skin to breathe better. And thirdly, since panty liner pads are thinner than sanitary napkins, they are much more comfortable for daily use and are also more discreet hence allowing you to wear all kinds of clothes without worry.
How to Use a Panty Liner
Panty liners need to be used the same way as sanitary pads. You simply need to stick them on the gusset of your panty to make them work and throw them away in a garbage bin after use. Just keep in mind to change them regularly, preferably every 5 hours to keep infections at bay. Also, do not use them like sanitary pads for night for overnight absorption. You need to let your intimate area breathe during the night so avoid using liners while sleeping.
Uses and Benefits o Panty Liners
Intimate Hygiene
All women experience white vaginal discharge which is a sign of their healthy reproductive organs. However, this can cause wetness and discomfort and also stain your clothes. But you can manage this by using panty liners. They help to keep you fresh and clean during long work days or exercise sessions and protect you against infections caused due to excessive and prolonged moisture retention in the groin region.
Accidental Urine Leakage
Urination due to the stress put on the bladder while sneezing, coughing, laughing etc happens to everyone. Also, it is quite common and gets more frequent during pregnancy. So, by using liners you can prevent any embarrassing situation as they can quickly soak up light urine leakages.
Light Menstrual Bleeding
If your periods are nearing or if they are erratic, you can use panty liners to avoid any undesirable surprises and spoiling of clothes. Similarly, you can also use them during the last couple of days of your period when your bleeding gets light, and you do not need the heavier sanitary pads.
Additional Protection
If you have recently begun using tampons or menstrual cups you may not feel so confident about them yet. In that case, you can use panty liners to provide extra protection against leakages.
Travelling
While traveling like when going for a trek, you can use women’s panty liners to keep your undergarments clean and fresh, especially if there’s no provision to wash them.
Postpartum Bleeding
After delivering your baby, you can experience bleeding anywhere between 4 to 8 weeks. If it is not too heavy, you can use liners to absorb the blood and provide protection.
Conclusion
Panty liner pads are a brilliant way to stay clean and fresh all day, every day. So, if you haven’t tried them yet, it is time you do and enjoy all their perks.
