Matches at Murrayfield

He was virtually certainly selected for the final 31-man group due to his flexibility. Mike Blair's resignation

Following Mike Blair's decision to resign as head trainer and the hiring of former Worcester manager Steve Diamond as a consultant in recent weeks, there has been a concern. Skinner thinks Blair has been "freed up" by Diamond's presence and now has "more time and vitality to invest into our campaign." The boys have enjoyed the fact that you can sense his presence more.”

Blair has stated that he wants to concentrate just on being a "world-class attack trainer," and it is obvious that the Edinburgh team is hopeful that he will remain in the Scotland capital, regardless of who the new head trainer is.

"I have no idea what he wants, but he has an outstanding connection with the performers," continued Skinner.

"We all feel the same way about Mike. He makes a great coach. We thank him a lot because he has given us an awful situation here. I would do anything to keep Mike working at the club."

Skinner will closely monitor how some of the "friends for life" he established at Exeter handle their difficult Champions Cup semi-final matchup versus La Rochelle later this month during a four-week break after some end-of-season assessments before his sights move to Rugby World Cup 2023.

When the three-month build-up starts at the beginning of June with the first of several summer training camps targeted towards Scotland trying to navigate a notoriously challenging group that also includes Ireland and South Africa, Skinner should be more rested than most.
