The tinting of your car's windows offers you many benefits. This Car Window Tinting Guide will help you to make the right choice for your vehicle. It covers the benefits of The Tint Pros window tinting, different types, and the laws that govern it.

Four benefits of car window tinting

  • Improved Looks of Vehicles- We all know that tinted window vehicles look great. It is important to clean up the lines and not have the interior distract from the overall look of the vehicle. Most vehicle manufacturers do not photograph their vehicles with tinted glass, like the car pictured above. Tinted windows make the cars look more attractive.
  • Cools Down Your Interior Most window tints will prevent a certain percentage of heat from entering your vehicle. The interior will be cooler and more comfortable.
  • Protects your Skin From Sun damage- Skin Cancer Foundation published data warning against skin damage while driving in a vehicle. Standard vehicle windows don't block UV rays. However, adding window films can block up to 99% of them.
  • Privacy Tinted windows make it more difficult for others to look in. It gives you greater privacy and protects your valuables when parked.

There are four types of automotive window tint.

  • Basic Window Tint- This film gives you a non-reflective tinted appearance. This film is not very effective at blocking heat. Basic dyed films are also non-interfering with mobile electronics or vehicles. These films are typically the least costly option for window tinting.
  • Metal-Hybrid Window Tint These films use a metal layer to improve heat rejection. These films are often more reflective than other window film. This film's metal layer can interfere with mobile and vehicle electronics. These films cost more than a standard dyed film but are not as costly as many carbon-based or infrared-rejecting films.
  • Window Tint These films have the appearance of a non-reflective film, but with the heat rejection of a hybrid metal film. These films will also not interfere with electronic devices. These films tend to be slightly more expensive than metal hybrid films.
  • Infrared-Rejecting Window Tint -- These films use a higher level of technology to block more infrared light from the sun, thereby increasing the heat rejection. Infrared-rejecting window films are also not usually very reflective. These films are the perfect combination of comfort and appearance. These films will also not interfere with electronic devices. Infrared-rejecting window films are typically the most expensive option for window tinting.

You must first check with your state's motor vehicle department to find out the rules, including the levels of light transmission that are legal. After you have determined the permitted levels, you can select the window tint film that is right for your vehicle. State laws define the amount of tint that is allowed on each passenger vehicle window. "All states have restrictions regarding tinting front windshields."
