Pep Guardiola rarely manages an unsuccessful season as manager of Manchester City, often winning multiple trophies during his time there. Most recently they defeated Real Madrid to reach the Champions League final and clinched their inaugural FA Cup trophy earlier in 2018.

At Etihad Stadium on Sunday, they can clinch the Premier League championship if they defeat Chelsea by one goal and will become champions if Arsenal lose to Nottingham Forest the day prior.

It’s non-stop

Manchester City are now only 12 games away from completing a historic Premier League, Champions League and FA Cup treble under Pep Guardiola's direction. Their lead at the top of the Premier League table has been further extended after they defeated Everton with a 3-0 victory last Saturday, thanks to Riyad Mahrez scoring twice and Ilkay Gundogan setting up Erling Haaland for their final goal - both scores by Riyad Mahrez himself.

On Wednesday night at the Etihad Stadium, Manchester City host Arsenal looking to steal back control of the title from rivals who currently lead by five points but have played two more matches than City. Pep Guardiola has asked his own supporters to increase the volume for this important top-of-the-table clash and help secure an important three points against them.

Pep was seen turning back around to his fans before West Ham's first corner of the second half and asking them to help raise the noise level in the stadium. Blues supporters quickly responded, sending shockwaves through Etihad Stadium - TalkSPORT's Sam Matterface was present to witness it first-hand.

It’s the most difficult

The Premier League, more popularly known as EPL in America, is widely regarded as one of the toughest competitions to win in world football. Comprised of 20 teams playing 38 matches between August and May each season, its champion is determined by which side wins more matches during that season.

Pep Guardiola took over Manchester City in 2016 and has turned them into domestic powerhouses since. Under his watch, City have broken nearly every record the Premier League offers while playing some of the greatest football ever seen in this league.

Guardiola remains unfazed by Kevin De Bruyne's ongoing feud, saying it gives players the motivation to fight for their cause. He likened defending the title against Chelsea this weekend to serving up Wimbledon like a tennis player; thus positioning his defending champions to win three major trophies this year.

It’s the most important

The Premier League is England's highest tier football pyramid, consisting of 20 teams vying to be named English champion. Each season runs from August through May; every team plays 38 matches (playing each other twice home and away). Wins earn three points while draws earn one; at season's end, the team with the most points wins the Premier League crown.

Pep Guardiola believes the Premier League to be Manchester City's top priority this season. They could become champions if they beat Chelsea at Etihad on Sunday and could potentially also claim FA Cup victory by beating Nottingham Forest. Of course, both Champions League and Europa League trophies should also be targeted - but the Premier League stands alone as its most meaningful trophy to claim.

It’s the most enjoyable

City boss Pep Guardiola has broken nearly every managerial record at Etihad Stadium during his incredible run of success as head coach, including four Premier League titles out of six seasons and possibly another if City reach the semi finals next month.

Pep has stated his expectation that Manchester City must work for their fifth Premier League crown and will not have it handed to them with two games left on the calendar, as was the case last season when they took it without much difficulty. Furthermore, Pep is hoping for his side's first ever Champions League triumph as this would be his side's greatest prize ever won.

Pep has led City to the quarterfinals of Europe's premier competition and will secure their spot with a victory against RB Leipzig on Tuesday evening in the second leg. He has maintained that qualifying for the Champions League is more significant than winning the Premier League, prompting criticism of his comments.
