5 Golden Rules for Living a Healthy and Happy Life

Posted by Marry Grover on May 31st, 2023

Many of us dedicate our whole lives to earning more and making a name for ourselves. Yet, in the end, when we glance back, all our efforts seem meaningless and futile.

If you fear this is what may become of you, then here are 5 golden rules you must follow. Have a look!

How can you live a happy and fulfilling life?

  1. Search for long-term pleasure goals:

To live a healthy and happy life, you must seek pleasure. Engage in activities that ensure long-term happiness instead of chasing short-term goals.

So, while earning money and establishing a successful business may seem like ideal goals, they are not meaningful and cannot ensure life-long happiness. Thus, you should invest in your family and try to make those around you happy for a meaningful life.

  1. Worry about things you can control:

A lot of our time goes into worrying about things we cannot control. This generates stress and may even lead to physical and mental health problems.

Thus, to live a healthy life, your aim should be to focus on what is in your hand. What this means is that instead of wasting your energy thinking about the situation, your efforts should be directed towards how you react to the scenario.

  1. Invest in your friendships:

One of the defining characteristics of humanity that sets us apart from other forms of existence is a deeply ingrained social instinct to associate with others.

We have this indispensable desire to connect with others and cannot think of having a complete human identity without the bond of friendships. So, invest in the bond of friendship for a fulfilling life.

  1. Get 8 hours of sleep:

Because of work or other engagements, we tend to shrug off our body’s need for sound and undisturbed sleep. We often compromise with our 8 hours of rest and hope to make up for the lost sleep on the weekend. But the human body doesn’t work like that. Losing sleep and indulging in poor sleep hygiene can disturb balance and lead to poor health.

  1. Avoid excess to live in harmony

Unlike most other creatures, humans have a tendency to acquire as much as we can. We do not just take what we need but indulge in excess.

This tendency is harmful as it prevents us from living in peace. We are greedy and always try to achieve more, which prevents us from living in harmony with the environment or others.
