Just the way custom paperboard binders tend to differ from custom vinyl binders and other kinds, the rings that are used in them differ too. While most may consider the rings to be not such significant little detail, their type can help you make a better binder choice depending on your preferences as well as the purpose that you expect the binder to serve. Most common types of rings that are used in paperboard binders have been listed here and each one of them performs distinct functions.

Round rings:
This conventional binder ring is ideal for a normal load. In other words, it has a standard capacity to accommodate papers. So, if you are looking for a binder in which you will have to keeping adding lots of papers regularly or even at once, this type of ring may not be a very good idea.

Slants:
This has a 25% extra capacity than its round counterpart. It is highly durable and sturdy as well and has a multipurpose use.

D-rings:
As the name says it, this ring is shaped like the letter D and holds 30% extra papers than the round ring. Of course, you can get ones that are larger in size if you are looking for an even higher capacity.

Gapless rings:
These rings are the best when your binders need to be used often for reference. That is because these rings allow you to turn all the papers as smoothly as the leaves of a notebook. Moreover, in case the binder drops down, this type of ring does not snap open like the other types.

Easy turns:
This is a fairly good alternative to gapless rings as these too allow smooth turning of the pages. Unlike the other types of rings, these are mounted on the back cover which makes it possible for the papers to lie flatter in the binder, even when you are flipping through them.

EZD rings:
A highly durable version of the basic round rings; these have an impressive 50% extra capacity of holding papers. It is usually a gap-free ring which means that it makes it possible for easy flipping of the papers, reducing the amount and possibility of damage that may happen while going through those papers.

One-touch easy openers:
These are meant for those binders that will be used for holding papers that are to be removed frequently. So, these are designed in a way that you can open them quickly even with one hand.
