Omega Seamaster Planet Ocean Dark Grey: a ceramic and titanium diver

Omega is getting wet with its new Seamaster Planet Ocean Dark Gray which has just been unveiled. It interests us not because it is a new ceramic dive watch with a GMT complication, but because it is full of technological advances in terms of materials and watchmaking which, according to Omega , give it an improved strength-to-weight ratio compared to previous replica watches uk made from similar materials.

A very light diver

Omega replica begins by presenting its new piece to us, highlighting the use of silicon nitride ceramic [Si3N4] for the case, a lighter but also very robust ceramic compound. Omega claims it is twice as light as the Zircon ceramic used in the rest of its catalog, and according to its data sheet, the watch weighs 107 grams.

The other innovation of this Seamaster Planet Ocean Dark Gray is that the dial and movement are both made of titanium, again to reduce the weight of the fake watch. The movement inside is the Master Chronometer caliber 8906 (with GMT function), which has of course received the full METAS treatment.

Titanium inside, ceramic outside

The Seamaster Planet Ocean Dark Gray is a featherweight on the scale but remains a heavy weight on the wrist. The case measures 45.5mm in diameter and 17.4mm in height. The lug-to-lug measurement is 51.5mm, which seems almost reasonable given the large diameter. Planet Ocean obliges, its water resistance is set at 600 meters.

Note at the same time that this diver has grade 5 titanium for the body of the bezel and that the bracelet, dial, track and hands are gray. The new Seamaster comes with a rubber strap with white stitching. The folding clasp is also made of titanium.
