RV Lithium-ion Battery Suppliers: How to Choose

Posted by Heiwhite on November 5th, 2023

Lithium-ion batteries are in a state of flux. Lithium-ion is a relatively new technology that has gained momentum in the past five to ten years and demand for these batteries is growing rapidly. Consequently, OEMs have been attracted to this, creating something of a buyer-beware market.

When choosing a battery supplier for a forklift, OEMs must consider a number of critical factors. Picking the wrong battery can impact every aspect of an OEM's business, from procurement to production. OEMs rely heavily on forklifts for their day-to-day operations, and forklifts depend heavily on batteries for their day-to-day operations. For OEMs, the first step in determining their success is choosing a rv lithium battery supplier. OEMs need suppliers who can meet JIT shipping demands, lead technical innovation, and provide extended technical service. The result is that you may end up with a lithium-ion supplier rather than a lithium-ion partner who will be with you for years to come, resulting in unhappy customers and a loss of time and money.

The following questions should be asked of the manufacturers:

In order to determine how established the company is, ask how long the company has been in business, how long it has been serving the material handling industry, and if they have supplied batteries to major manufacturers. Ask if they offer flooded lead-acid, AGM, and lithium-ion batteries as well. If the manufacturer is a start-up, has only served the material handling industry for a few years, or has not supplied batteries to OEMs, you might want to consider moving on.

Older, more experienced companies that understand the material handling industry and manufacture and sell a full line of forklift lithium battery products usually understand the issues that can damage batteries and shorten their lifespans. As a result, their products often incorporate solutions to these problems.

The company may have a lot to learn if it has only been working with lithium-ion technology for a few years.

Make sure that the company offers real customer support in the U.S. and Europe, with real people who can answer questions and assist your technicians in troubleshooting problems. Ensure that support is available 24/7 and that the staff includes Lithium-ion experts. Many newcomers to the market lack the infrastructure to provide that level of service.

You don't want to work with a supplier who sells products and then forgets about you. You want to work with a supplier who provides support for their dealers. Look for a manufacturer who communicates with dealers in a systematic way to avoid phone tag and long hold times. Inquire if the manufacturer has an authorized dealer network that trains dealers and provides them with information and materials so that they can sell its products.

Often manufacturers sell directly to dealerships but are unable to provide dealers with follow-up services. Make sure your supplier sells their batteries through a network of trained distributors. In addition to adding value to your purchase, these distributors generally know and stand behind their products.

How does your battery differ from others with regards to design and engineering? Look for products that have UL2580 certification and at least an IP67 rating. This helps protect the battery from vibration, water, and dust, and can extend its life. Be sure the battery is embedded and expandable.

The battery is designed to move heat away from the cells by using inexpensive components called heat sinks, which are easy to make and add to.

Heat sinks are an effective way to manage heat, but batteries should be designed to reduce heat generation and permit natural cooling. This requires more engineering expertise, but it improves safety, improves efficiency, and extends battery life.

The battery range of your forklift battery has been developed by BSLBATT, and it can be stacked in parallel as a building block in forklift battery compartments. To assist OEMs, 43 standard modules have been developed for lithium batteries of different capacities. Forklift OEMs must be aware that usable capacity must be checked, not advertised capacity. This module can be stacked up to 20 times in parallel, and can be customized to meet OEM needs. The stated capacity may be based on the sum of the individual cells within the battery, without taking into account internal losses like usable capacity. When it comes to high-capacity, high-current, and relatively low voltage batteries used in MHE, real-world test data and customer testimonials are crucial to understanding the usable range of a battery.

The battery should have several levels of safety redundancy. Look for lithium-iron-phosphate cells, one of the most stable lithium-ion batteries. Ask about the battery's UL certifications. When one level fails, another level will step in and catch the problem, turning off the battery, protecting you and your property. Does the manufacturer rely solely on the UL listing of the cell provider or is the entire pack UL-certified? Forklift lithium batteries from BSLBATT are the first in China to be certified to UL2580 standards. Get more info about lithium battery manufacturers.

When you stock batteries purely based on prices, you're making a big mistake that can negatively impact your company's bottom line. Investing some time in your decision can have big payoffs in your sales, service, and customer satisfaction. Make sure you consider the manufacturers' experience, support services, and products.

We have been manufacturing lithium-ion batteries for more than 20 years, including R&D and OEM services. The company takes the development and production of the advanced series “BSLBATT” (best solution lithium battery) as its mission to comply with ISO/CE/UL1973/UN38.3/ROHS/IEC62133 standards.

BSLBATT lithium products power a wide range of applications, including solar power solutions, microgrids, home energy storage, golf carts, RVs, marine batteries, and industrial batteries. In addition to providing high-quality products and services, the company continues to lead the way to a more efficient and environmentally friendly energy storage future.
