TAG Heuer has released an updated Carrera Glassbox 39 mm chronograph

The Swiss watch company TAG Heuer continued the advertising campaign of its new TAG Heuer Carrera watch, presented at the Watches & Wonders 2023 exhibition in Geneva, in which the brand ambassador actor Ryan Gosling starred. The five-minute short film, starring Gosling, is a creative new approach to watchmaking from an advertising perspective. The event took place in London to celebrate one of TAG Heuer's biggest releases in recent memory, the Carrera Glassbox, an aesthetic update of the brand's most popular model that draws on its racing heritage.

The new Carrera Glassbox chronograph is available in two color configurations: a blue dial and a black dial with silver-tone sub-counters in a steel case. The model is called Glassbox because of the domed, curved glass that pays homage to the similar domed Hesalite crystals of the 1970s. The design is a fusion of vintage design and ultra-modern elements. It features a slanted dial, large sunburst markers, a curved tachymeter scale and retro-style numeral printing. Both models feature the same 39mm case, reshaped pushers and are water-resistant to 100m. The blue dial version comes with a matching blue leather strap, while the silver/black version comes with a black calfskin racing strap.

The blue dial model has a modern look with subtle hints of vintage, while the black and white version has a retro aesthetic with contrasting color schemes and a perforated racing strap, paying homage to the past. TAG Heuer CEO Frédéric Arnault noted that these releases were treated as vintage reissues with modernization to make them fake watches of today. Ultimately, this is just the beginning of a new platform on which the entire Carrera line can evolve.
