Where should your key words appear for the maximum impact of SEO services?

There is conflicting advice about the place for the key words and phrases that will draw traffic to your site.  Some experts advise that the key words should be in your anchor text.  This is the text that appears first on your landing page and is most commonly used to seek relevance of the website for the search engine.  Some experts believe that such anchoring of key words can lead to Google’s manual penalties and Google penalty removal often requires a rewrite of web content, to make the use of key words more natural and organic within the site.

As with most debates, the answer is somewhere in the middle of the two extremes.  The anchor text does need to be key word rich.  However, it also needs to be natural and the key words and phrases should be apparent in other areas of your site too.    Anything that appears forced or contrived will raise alarm in search engines.  Yet, your ranking will rise with proven relevance and contextual link building using relevant terms.

So, how do you strike a happy balance between completely contrived and organic, natural text.  The key is to write the key words in such a way as they are embedded within descriptive phrases.  This means using what are called long tail key words.  The words are there amongst the sentence but the sentence appears completely organic and natural.  Within this anchor text you can then turn these key words and phrases into contextual links, without appearing to be stuffing them in out of context of the rest of the text.

Another route to successful use of SEO services is by actually providing content that is relevant and useful to the reader.  This is why the algorithm exists in the first place.  It might appear on the first look of a cynic as a barrier to useful internet marketing, however, it is actually a quality assurance tool.  The search engines are trying to ensure that web content has authority and value – and that the user is not manipulated into going to worthless, second-rate content.  Therefore, the best advice is to work with the aims of the algorithm.  Write articles and blogs that will be enjoyable and informative to read and that simultaneously provides the marketing men with the SEO words, phrases and links that will boost the ranking.

A professional SEO company will employ good copy writers who won’t just churn out 500 words of any old copy.  The copy itself will draw visitors to your site because it is interesting, engaging and relevant.  More importantly, good copy will appear natural and with this comes the certainty that you won’t be hit with a Google manual penalty that will stop all traffic coming to your site.  Getting someone to write a blog for your website might seem like a low priority decision – but in fact – a blog or article writer will do more to draw customers to your site than any other form of marketing.
