Baltic Watches unveils a trio of watches with a sumptuous Gold PVD casePosted by lifata on December 18th, 2023 ![]() The collection launched by Baltic this November seems to be the end of a great year for the brand in 2023. The brand launched the Hermétique collection a few months ago, which was not a revolution but a very good evolution of the HMS 002, BICOMPAX 002 and MR01 collections, with a very successful introduction in gold cases. As a reminder, the French brand did not yet have any Gold cases in its collections. On the other hand, the Acascaphe, the brand's diver and also a best seller, is available with a fully brushed Bronze case and a pretty chocolate brown dial. We therefore find the 3 iconic cases of these 3 collections with a resolutely vintage look, this time sporting a pretty golden PVD coating. The level of finishing remains high with on most cases an alternation of brushed surfaces (circular or horizontal) and polished surfaces such as the bezel for example or the horns of the MR01. On the diameter side nothing changes, the Baltic MR01 keeps its small diameter of 36mm full of elegance and the HMS and BICOMPAX sport their Step Case of 38mm in diameter. For the thickness it is the same with an MR01 with a very flat profile of 9.9mm thick. Regarding the 3-hand HMS collection and the Bicompax Chornographe, the thickness is 13mm including glass, very appreciable dimensions and comfortable to wear. For the dials of these 3 new variations, Baltic has opted for a magnificent, very deep black. The architecture remains faithful to the DNA of each collection with the exception of the railroad tracks, indexes and gold-colored hands for a perfect mix, and don't panic Black and Gold does not always rhyme with "cheap" and this new collection is proof of that. Personally, I am a very fan of the MR01 in this variation, especially with its beautiful Breguet indexes applied in Gold. These 3 best replica watches are equipped with their usual caliber, that is to say: The Hangzhou Caliber CAL5000a with its Micro Rotor for the MR01. A caliber that has long been criticized by fans of fine mechanics. This movement offers 42 hours of power reserve which is very reasonable. For the HMS 002 PVD Doré, the Japanese Miyota 8315 automatic movement is on board. We no longer present this reliable and robust movement which offers 60 hours of power reserve and a Stop Second system. And finally, it is the hand-wound Seagull ST1901 that equips the Bicompax 002 chronograph. There is also a 42-hour power reserve on this very popular Chinese caliber. The glass case bottoms offer a view of these calibers in action. As much as I find it very nice for the MR01 with its micro rotor or even for the chronograph movement, but concerning the HMS... I find that the open back almost undermines the design when we see the truly standard mass of the Japanese caliber. Like it? Share it!More by this author |
