ORIS SIGNS A NEW BIG CROWN “FATHER TIME” IN LIMITED EDITION

What a pleasure to see more and more houses reintroducing bronze cases, a material which over time gives a unique patina to each watch. For this Big Crown, the Hölstein house collaborated with the Marylebone Cricket Club (MCC), a long-standing partner of Oris, to create the Father Time Limited Edition.

Why this name you might ask? This replica watch uk takes its name from the iconic weather vane known as “Father Time” overlooking the Lord’s Cricket Ground in London, the name of the stadium where the MCC is also headquartered, the most famous cricket club in the world. Father Time being a symbol in the world of famous British sport, it was only natural that Oris adopted this emblem to underline its commitment as a partner of the club and official timekeeper, moreover as part of its charitable initiative “Change for the Better.”

First of all, standard dimensions, with a diameter of 40mm. A fluted bezel which is very reminiscent of watches from the 60s and 70s. A sapphire crystal curved on both sides with anti-reflective treatment on the inside. The large crown giving its name to the Big Crown model, located at 3 o'clock, is screwed down, ensuring water resistance up to 5 ATM (50 meters). The back, also screwed and decorated with a “Father Time Limited Edition” illustration, depicts the previously mentioned weather vane as well as the part number.

The dial, for its part, is resolutely inspired by vintage fake watches uk. White in color, the indexes are in black Arabic numerals, ensuring excellent readability. The whole thing is framed by a railway grading the minutes, punctuated with triangular markers every 5 minutes treated with SuperLuminova, on which the second hand will move. This will make reading much easier, even in a dark environment. Around the edge of the railway and to complete the dial we find the date graduated from 1 to 31. The date indicator hand is shaped like a red crescent moon and moves perfectly on the dial without hindering the readability. The hands are of the golden cathedral type and have obviously undergone a photoluminescent treatment.

To power this model, the Swiss house chose the Oris 754 caliber, an automatic mechanical movement with a power reserve of 38 hours. Equipped with 26 jewels, it oscillates at a frequency of 28,800 vibrations per hour, or 4 Hz. This movement is based on the Sellita SW 200-1 caliber, adopted and modified by Oris. It offers, among other things, a date corrector, instant date change and a stop-second function for those who like to set their tocante to the nearest second.

Two straps are provided with this Oris watch. The first, made in Switzerland by brand partner Cervo Volante, is made from sustainably sourced brown deer leather. It is accompanied by a bronze pin buckle matching the case. The second is a bronze bracelet, with brushed links, limiting micro-scratches and giving this piece a sporty look. Everything is completed by a folding clasp ensuring the wearer has a good fit. A small gesture from Oris: a tool is provided to facilitate the removal of the steel bracelet, the leather one already having an easy removal system with quick bars. We appreciate it, especially since it is a very good quality tool.
