Document Checklist for Parent Visa Applicant

The parents as the applicant must provide:

1. Current passport (completed with photo, personal details, passport issue and expiry dates)
2. Optional documents based on personal matters,such as: national identity card, a proof of change of name (including the cause of change of name and documents that show other names you have been known by), a marriage certificate, etc.
3. Private health insurance (mandatory for visa 103 and visa 870 only)
4. Photographs, where you need to provide 4 recent photos anyone included in the application and it must be require:
   • 45mm x 35mm
   • Should be taken less than 6 months
   • Good quality colour.
   • A full face review of your head and shoulders.
   • Taken with a plain light-coloured background.
   • Can wear glasses and head covering for religious reasons.

Document Checklist for Parent Visa Sponsor

The child, who will be the sponsor, must provide the following documents:

1. Current passport (completed with photo, personal details, passport issue and expiry dates)
2. Evidence of permanent resident or citizenship status in Australia
3. Evidence of financial capability to support your parents while in Australia

Document Checklist for Family of Balance Test and Family Relationship

The documents are including but not limited to:

1. Evidence of how your parents are related to you
2. Evidence of yours and your sibling(s)’ residential status
3. Evidence of why the child should not be included (i.e. death certificate)

Assurance of Support for Parent Visa Application

You can arrange the Assurance of Support (AoS) documents once the Department of Home Affairs asks for it.

Character Documentations

It is suggested for the applicant and sponsor to provide the Police Clearance Certificate. However, you may wait until the Department of Home Affairs asks you to provide one.

Document Checklist for Dependent Under 18 Years Old

You must also provide:

1. Identity documents
2. Evidence of the dependent’s relationship with your parents
3. Form 1229 – Consent for the child under 18 years old to migrate to Australia

The consent should be signed by the person who has legal right to decide where the child lives but is not able to move with the child.

Document Checklist for Dependent Above 18 Years Old

For any dependents who are above 18 years old:

• Refer to the checklist above; and
• Evidence of the dependency on your parents (i.e. being a full time student or having disability to live alone)
