The difference between cold stamping and hot rolling of low carbon steel pipes

Low carbon steel pipe is one of the important products in the steel industry. Its production process involves two processes: cold stamping and hot rolling. There are obvious differences between the two processes in the production process.

First of all, cold drawing and hot rolling are two different processes. Cold drawing is mainly performed at normal temperature, while hot rolling is performed at high temperature.

Secondly, the cold stamping process is to stamp low carbon steel pipes at normal temperature to obtain parts of the required shape and size. This process can produce plates or parts of various shapes and specifications, such as round, square, rectangular, oval, etc. The cold stamping process has the advantages of high production efficiency, low cost, and good surface quality, so it has been widely used in low carbon steel pipe processing.

In contrast, the hot rolling process involves rolling low carbon steel pipes at high temperatures to obtain pipes of the desired shape and size. This process can produce plates or pipes of various specifications, such as round pipes, square pipes, special-shaped pipes, etc. The hot rolling process has the advantages of high production efficiency, low cost, and high material utilization, so it has been widely used in the production of low carbon steel pipes.

In addition, cold drawing and hot rolling also differ in terms of product properties. Since the cold stamping process uses hot-rolled steel plates as the basic raw material and is carried out at room temperature, its products have good dimensional accuracy and surface quality, and will not affect the material properties. The hot rolling process is carried out at high temperatures, so the products have good plasticity and toughness, but the surface quality is relatively poor. At the same time, due to the influence of high temperature, it may have a certain impact on the material properties.

In summary, there are obvious differences between the cold stamping and hot rolling processes of low carbon steel pipes in terms of production process and product performance. During the production process, the appropriate process should be selected based on specific needs and product requirements. At the same time, products produced by different processes need to be used rationally according to their characteristics and application fields.
