LSAW steel pipe (Longitudinally Submerged Arc Welding) is a professional term for straight seam submerged arc welded steel pipe, which is mainly used in oil and gas pipelines and other projects. The production process of LSAW steel pipe is to press (roll) a single medium-thick plate into a tube blank through a forming machine or mold, and then use double-sided submerged arc welding to expand the diameter. Due to the characteristics of this process, LSAW steel pipes have many advantages, such as a wide range of finished product specifications, good weld toughness, good plasticity, good uniformity, and good compactness.

In important projects such as oil and gas pipelines, LSAW steel pipes are usually widely used. Especially when passing through Class 1 and Class 2 areas such as alpine zones, seabed, and densely populated urban areas, straight seam submerged arc welded pipes are the only designated applicable pipe type and comply with API standards.

The main technical parameters of LSAW (straight seam submerged arc welded pipe) are as follows:

Wall thickness: up to 6.4-23.8mm (0.252-0.94in) for X80 steel grade; up to 6.4-26.4mm (0.252-1.04in) for X70 steel grade. The wall thickness can be increased to varying degrees when the material is reduced.

Product standards: ISO3183-3, API Spec 5L, GB9711, etc.

The diameter of straight seam submerged arc welded steel pipe can reach Φ406.4-Φ1422.4mm
