Choosing the right airsoft BB is important in the game of airsoft. Getting the wrong size, type or weight could damage your gun. So manufacturers are making improvements on the airsoft ammunition constantly.
There is more than one type of AIRSOFT BBS which you can choose from including the tracers, biodegradable, paintballs, and markers. A typical airsoft bb ranges from the 5.93-5.98 mm in diameter, and are usually made up of plastic. Some guns require an 8 millimeter BB, but that is rare.
Biodegradable BBs are very good when playing outdoors. They are easy to find and quickly identify. A lot of outdoor places now require using the biodegradable BBs, if cleanup is not available. The regular plastic airsoft BBs will pollute the air, and will remain solid for years to come. THUNDER V BBS are generally CO2 in which the CO2 pressure is much higher. It is advisable to shoot this type of BBs through the tornado otherwise you can hurt your hand. These BBs are reusable to a certain extent. But they are not reliable. Sometimes they will go off right away in about five seconds but in other times, you have to wait for couple of minutes for it to shoot.
Paint-filled BBs are quite similar to the ammunition used in the paintball. One of the bad things about using these is that some manufacturers would void the warranty of the gun if these are used in them. Airsoft guns with the hop-up systems or a mechanized feed system are unable to use these. There is a great chance of a paint-filled BB to be exploded in your gun.
The newest airsoft ammunition that has come out is the markers that hit the target and leave a small mark. The airsoft BBs are coated with a powder. This would eliminate the possibility of people staying in the game when hit.
