Nimbu Saab - The Barefeet Kargil Hero From NagalandPosted by Rehan on September 19th, 2024 In every war that is fought, there is only one winner. But, there are countless losses. Many families lose their loved ones in the process. There is only moaning everything. Despite these gloomy times, the country is victorious because of the incredible sacrifices of these brave men & women in the face of war. Likewise, Indian History sometimes forgets to mention tales about how some war heroes lacked access to educational facilities and battled poverty but were able to make it into the Indian Military through the National Defence Academy. Some of these brave men & women laid down their lives without even a second thought to the service of the nation. Nimbu Saab written by Neha Dwivedi and Diksha Dwivedi with inputs from Neingutoulie Kenguruse (his brother) takes us back to when the Indo-Pak relations were not so good. This is the ideal book that can arouse the reader's interest in non-fiction and the military. These are the war books that contain true accounts of what actually happened, with a proper time frame. Captain Neikezhakuo Kenguruse, was also called ‘Nimbu Saab’, as his colleagues, and juniors found it incredibly difficult to pronounce his name. Nimbu Saab belonged to the second battalion of the Rajputana Rifles. They had a crucial role in defending Point 4590. India lost twenty-three of her brave soldiers. Captain Kenguruse, was merely 25 years of age. On the occasion of the twenty-fifth anniversary of the Kargil War, Vijay Diwas, the daughters of the hero from Nagaland, tell us about his act of heroism. Captain Neikezhakuo Kenguruse was born into a large Naga family. Most of the youngsters in those days, were into drugs and were attracted to the Naga insurgency movement. However, Neibo wanted to give a better life for his family. Though he was patriotic enough to join the Indian army, at times, he felt aloof. However, in his final act of sacrifice, Neibo ensured that all Nagas felt the same that he did, that they were part of India. As the body of the fearless son was carried in a convoy, a group of young Angami men gave their war cry. These are the Indian heroes, who hail from Northeast India and have made the ultimate sacrifice. The book is on par with other inspirational books even ranked with the one penned by KJS Dhillon, as a memoir for all the Indian army personnel. It is only befitting that readers read this well-written book about their father, who paid the ultimate price for the country, by sacrificing his own life. For his bravery & heroism, in Indian military history, Captain Neikezhakuo Kenguruse was awarded the country’s second-highest military decoration after the Param Vir Chakra. Conclusion This is one of the non-fiction books about Indian heroes, from the special forces of the army, who were heroic in their deeds. A beautifully narrated book by somebody who was very close to the martyr. Only they understand & know the pain, the void, the sadness, and the solitariness that the space their father has left behind. The Kargil War hero is on par with top names like Bipin Rawat & Gaurav Sawant, who were also from the army school of defence forces. Like it? Share it!More by this author |
