Arun Lakhani & Magadi 24x7

Magadi is a township in Ramanagara district in the Indian state of Karnataka. Magadi was the capital of Kempe Gowda who founded Bangalore in the 16th century.  Magadi is located at 12.97°N 77.23°E. It has an average elevation of 925 metres (3034 feet). Now Magadi has been added to Ramanagara district after its formation.

The Earth is filled with nearly 71% of water, yet we can only consume 2% of that water. This mainly lies in the fact that most of this water is filled with saline. Worse, in a country like ours, where we see quick urbanization, the need for water is even more. The rapidly urbanizing Indian population is expected to reach a figure close to 600 million urban people by 2031, leaving a the country to face serious challenges for urban planners. Indian cities have for long lived with irregular water supply systems riddled with a variety of problems ranging from high levels of NRW to contamination issues. The Chairman and Managing Director of Vishvaraj Infrastructure Limited (VIL India) Arun Lakhani has understood the importance of such a requirement and are working to provide 24 X 7 water. And with that we go to Magadi.

Magadi is located in the district of Ramanagara in Karnataka, with a population of 25,000. VIL has planned to construct, operate and maintain a 24x7 Water Supply Scheme in the town. Here are its most important features and scope of operation. Salient Features Construction Period : 15 months Trial run period: 2month Operation & Maintenance : 2 years Revenue: Item rate + Performance based O&M. Scope House Service Connection- 6100 Nos Pipe Laying- 59 Kms Operation and Maintenance of Entire Water Supply System Billing and Customer Services. VIL provides global solutions that contribute to sustainable development in the water sector through innovation in the design, construction and operation of drinking water treatment plants, distribution system reforms, etc.

After the success of Nagpur 24x7, Vishvaraj Infra decided to explore different locations and we wanted to incorporate of water management model all over the nation. This will be a big investment but over time it will be beneficial for all the citizens of the country. Every house from slum dwellers, to flat owners to bungalow residents everyone will get pressurized water supply round the clock. The reason Nagpur 24x7 is a huge success is due to the 4th P in the PPP model. The 4th P is the people. Their opinion and feedback was taken into account due to which the project became such a hit among everyone. VIL started out with Orange City Water (OCW) along with Veoila France and the project just developed and grew to be a success story says Arun Lakhani.
