Why Should You Replace Faulty Parts Right Away

Posted by Tool Man on November 2nd, 2016

In any woodworker's shop, there are various tools and machineries ranging from screwdriver to big and bulky JET drill press. A smart tradesman is the one who doesn't only know his skill well and improves upon it but takes care of his tools as well.

There are many reasons why proper maintenance of tools and big machinery is necessary even if sets you back some extra time and money. At the end of the day, both financial and time investments are going to be worth it.

In the event that you choose not to go the smart route, quite a few things can go wrong such as:

PERSONAL SAFETY

That should be your top priority. Your skill will be rendered useless if you're not in one piece or lose some part of your body or sustain an injury. Whenever your tool starts emitting smoke, you feel some kind of smell or your machine begins to heat up or produces a lot of noise, it is time to turn it off and diagnose it.

Anything that suggests there is something wrong with your tool should stop you from working right away. Find out the fault and replace the part that is causing problems. If the tool is irreparable, well tough luck but you will have to dispose it off safely and buy a new one. If you don't have your favorite JET drill press in your workshop anymore for the same, go and rent one for a few days until you can afford to buy a new one.

Never work on a machine that is causing some sort of a trouble as it becomes unreliable. Malfunction, fire or any other sudden action can cause a physical injury. Try to avoid that at all costs.

SAVE YOUR TOOL

When you know that your tool is struggling to perform because of some nasty part that needs to be replaced then you are not only putting yourself in danger but the tool as well. Forcing the tool to function in that situation can cause permanent internal damage and you will end up with a useless device if you don't drop the act right away. That's not a very smart decision as you will be spending a lot more money in the long run trying to save a few bucks in short term.

Remember; sparks along with overheating is always a bad sign. Check the carbon brushes and motor of your tool if the problem persists.

USE GENUINE REPLACEMENT PARTS

When you have decided to go ahead and carry out repairs, always look for the genuine spare parts manufactured by the OEM that your tool belongs to. Aftermarket parts can save you money but if they are not of the highest quality, they will turn your tool into botheration machine and you wouldn't want to deal with that.

Taking these steps will ensure that you and your tool remain safe and in perfect condition to perform to their fullest yielding perfect results all the time.
