While you encourage your staff to place calls when they encounter problems with the network, you are able to reduce your number of calls by ensuring even entry level staff have the right training and knowledge. By following a few simple procedures before reaching for the phone, you can save time and improve productivity. Is the Missing Data Local or on a Server

When you open a file and discover that not all the information is present, the user should first shut down the program and reopen it. If the data is still missing, check to see whether you are accessing a file located on the desktop computer or if it is being pulled from another location, such as a server or database. You may not need to do anything more than reboot your desktop station. If the problem file is supposed to be located on a network database, try to access other files at the same location. This helps to determine if the problem exists with the file or a larger system error.

Check Your Connections

Test Access from Different PC or Station

If you are still unable to reach the data you have been trying to access, go to another station and try to duplicate the error. If the second station has the same problems finding the files, then the problem is most likely located at the server or on your secure cloud.
