The chapel outside of Shear Style, opposite the busy Duss Avenue in Ambridge, announces: "Free wig for women with cancer in Beaver County". Owner Tony Kyrargyros has worked with the Center Civic Women's Club for about 10 years to help patients with chemotherapy who have lost their hair.

"It's gratifying to know that you are making people feel good going through this type of treatment," he said while wearing a wig for Rosemary Wargula of Hopewell Township, a patient with colon cancer.

Kyrargyros also provides a haircut, shampoo for the wig, foam head and hats knitted with the program. He said he is happy to work with patients - who turn on when he tells them the wig is free - and the women's club.

"These are very authentic people, if you meet them, you can just feel the heat," he said.

The club created a cancer fund in 1999 after the first "Inspirations" parade brazilian human hair lace wigs, said Fran Miller, of Center Township, a former president of the women's club.

"Our profits have increased and every penny we make from the fashion show goes to the cancer fund," said Miller.

The fund helped provide 1 hair fall wig,053 women with wigs and 43 women with prostheses, for a total of 1,096 recipients, and raised $ 314,000 over the years.

"You do not want people to have cancer, but if they do, we're there for them," Miller said.
