Reasons to Choose Trip in Chiang Mai For Gay Accommodations

Posted by Howie’s HomeStay on January 7th, 2017

The gay scene in Thailand goes far beyond the nightlife of Bangkok and the beaches in the south. Northern Thailand—particularly Chiang Mai—offers a whole new environment, with many gay-friendly activities and a wide range of choices in gay accommodations. You haven’t really explored Thailand if you haven’t seen Chiang Mai.

Apart from its abundant nature and rich history, Chiang Mai has a laid-back gay scene. You’ll find a number of friendly saunas and gay bars in town, where visitors and locals meet and socialize. Gay retreats and massage spas are also quite popular here. Gay nightlife is centered in the Nimmanhaemin and ChangPuak areas, a few minutes northwest of Old Town.

Chiang Mai is very accepting; locals are unprejudiced about gender choices and have an easy-going and genuinely friendly attitude. Many gay couples have fallen in love with Chiang Mai so deeply that they chose to settle here. You don’t have to limit yourself to ‘gay accommodation’ or ‘gay bars’ because you’re welcome anywhere. Thai gays happily co-mingle with straight, female, male, or transgender ladyboys to places and accommodations all over town.

There is a whole range of activities for gays visiting Chiang Mai. Go shopping for antiques, enjoy local street food, socialize among the expat community, or attend the fun parties—the choice is yours. You might also enjoy visiting stunning temples, going off to the countryside and trying your hand at planting rice, riding elephants, hiking topical forests, and many more. And after an active day outdoors, go so spa and indulge in a Thai massage. You certainly deserve it.

Where to Stay

If you are tired of the noise of downtown Chiang Mai, you can choose to stay in a luxurious private villa in the Mae Rim Valley, just a short drive from the city center. The area is home to upscale hotels and private resorts—and in some properties, you are the ONLY guests. That’s right—the entire villa is yours and all its amenities (including the pool) is yours, so you never have to worry about sharing anything with strangers. Booking a luxurious, all-inclusive private villa in Chiang Mai is a great option for gay couples, as well as groups of friends who want to enjoy unparalleled privacy.
