A person on a business visa cannot earn compensation from a company in India and cannot remain in the country for more than six months. An application for a business visa has to be enclosed with a company's letter, details of business, places to be visited and intention of the business conference.

Student's Visa: Student visas are granted up to five years only when the application is enclosed with registration or admission papers sent by the university to study at a residential course at a recognized educational institution.

Transit Visa: A transit visa is issued to a person who wants to reach his final destination by passing via the country. Transit visas are valid for three days and a person has to plan his itinerary according to the dates.

Journalist's Visa: Journalist's visas are issued for a period of three months only on a selective basis and to the media persons who express their interest to make a documentary or film in the country.

Research Visa: Research visas are meant for academics and participants of the academic conferences. The processing time for this type of visa takes approximately six to eight weeks.

Sports Visa: This visa is issued on the grounds of an official invite to inexpert sportspeople who express their desire to take part at a sports event held in the country.

Conference Visa: Conference visas are issued to those who want to attend a conference organized in the country hosted by an Indian Government Organization.

Employment Visa: Employment visas are issued to people who have taken up employment in the country with an organisation, which is registered in India.
