This requirement is only for those universities that non MOE listed universities. Universities that are not listed by the MOE are required to conduct Chinese language courses in order of the students to complete the HSK test (Chinese proficiency test). This is dues to the reason because the MOE has not still accessed the English program for these universities, thus leaving these universities to choose whether they’d like to offer their MBBS course in English or Chinese. This decision is solely based on the university itself; although it’s not compulsory, they still choose to offer their MBBS program in English for the ease and benefit of the international students. Despite choosing to offer their courses in English, the MOE has stated a basic requirement for the international students studying in non-listed universities to pass the HSK test with a minimum band of 4. The MOE has also decided that the non-listed universities shall offer comprehensive Chinese language courses in order for the international students to practice, learn and pass the HSK test. Students who do not complete the HSK test with a minimum band of 4.
