The United Pentecostal Church International has about 4602 Pentecostal life churches under it in the USA and Canada. The church also operates in about 212 countries besides USA and Canada. The church claims that it has about 3 million adherents. The seeds of the formation of UPCI were laid as back as 1916. This happened when many Pentecostal ministers came together bound by common ideas of oneness of god and baptism by water in the name of Jesus Christ.

Core Doctrine

The UPCI believes in the “oneness” of god instead of the “Trinity”. Trinitarian doctrine is rejected by the UPCI. The church expresses its firm obedience to the teachings of Gospel. The concepts of sin and salvation also form an essential part of the church’s doctrine. Water baptism in Jesus Christ’s name is an essential requirement according to UPCI. They baptize people in the name of Jesus Christ instead of the Trinity of Holy father, Holy Son and Holy Spirit. The church also believes in the concept of final judgment and the final resurrection of Christ.

The mode of worship in a Pentecostal church is traditional using Biblical expressions. The worship is done aloud with raised hands according to the instructions in the Bible. Musical instruments are played and everyone is encouraged to clap and join in the worship. Every church has a main auditorium and many classrooms. Teaching and preaching are also carried out in the church besides the daily services and music.

The Sunday morning service commences at 10:30 am and continues till 12:00 pm. On Thursdays, the service starts at 7:00 pm and is concluded by 8:15 pm. The church also hold special programs for children on Sundays.
