How to Take Care of Your Eyes After A Lasik Surgery

Posted by The Eye Foundation on January 23rd, 2017

After successful Lasik treatment, some patients may report mild discomfort like watering, tearing, and irritation, as if a foreign body is in their eye. For this reason, doctors may prescribe a mild pain reliever as a part of good post-surgery care. You may experience the sensation of dryness in your eyes for the first few weeks after Lasik eye surgery in Bangalore, too. Hence, the doctor may prescribe specially formulated lubricating eye drops to aid the temporary dryness.

Most patients report dramatic results in their vision in the first few days after undergoing a lasik surgery in Bangalore, but keep in mind that your recovery will depend on the amount of correction made and your personal healing pattern. Just be sure to take note of the following tips to take care of your eyes after the procedure:

  • Wear the protective eye shields for a while – Doctors recommend wearing the plastic eye shields when you sleep. Do this for the number of days the doctor has asked you to do so after undergoing a Lasik treatment for eyes in Bangalore to protect your eyes in case you subconsciously rub them. Remember not to rub your eyes while they are healing, too.
  • Patients can usually get back to their daily activities the very next day after the LASIK treatment. Usually, patients are already allowed to drive a day after laser treatment for eyes in Bangalore.
  • Avoid certain activities for a few days up to a week – Going out? Do not forget to wear sunglasses for at least on the first week after surgery, and do not wear any eye makeup or for one week. You should avoid swimming, gardening, cleaning the house, hot tubs, and avoid contact sports for one month.
  • Do not wash your hair for a few days – You can resume those activities 5-7 days after surgery, but be careful when you do. Make sure soap and shampoo will not go to your eyes.

You can return home the same day. There is a chance that you may feel some discomfort in the initial few hours that can easily reduce by oral pain killers. You will have to come for a follow up visit the next day after surgery to the eye hospital in Bangalore and thereafter you have to follow the schedule as advised by your surgeon.
