Natural organic substances and foods available in Peru

The food that a person eats should be healthy and should be preferably made from natural organic materials. Processed food should be avoided. Many manufacturers are producing natural and functional foods for sustainable development. Such foods usually certified as organic by various food departments. In Peru, many types of rich fruits and organic substances are available.

Raw foods

The different types of raw foods sold by the dealers are camu, Peruvian food, Andean fruit, mesquite, quinoa, and organic cacao nibs, etc. From cacao substance, cacao powder can be made. From the camu camu substance too fine camu camu powder can be made. The maca is a type of vegetable that is grown in Andes region on the plateau. They consist of rich nutrients and photochemical also. The hipocolito substance that is present in the food and it lies between the stem and root. When this part is concentrated, it can be used in a best way.



The organic cacao nibs are also a part of cacao substance. The Andean fruit is also rich in carotene.
The different types of cacao varieties are cacao criollo, cacao stranger, cacao trinity etc. The health benefits of cacao include lowering bad cholesterol, improving brain function, preventing heart strokes and resisting insulin.
The Lucama is an important source of Vitamin A and is meant for promoting cell growth. It is used for sweetening and is rich in niactin and is rich in fiber also.
The Algarroba or carob is trees that comprise of complex root systems and hence they absorb water or moisture at heights. They are used for controlling dunes and can harvest timber also.

Quinoa

Quinoa is another Andean plant that was once cultivated by the Hispanic civilization and was replaced by cereals. These quinoa grains consist of rich amino acids and are meant for promoting formation of antibodies in the body and repairing cellular. As they consist of alkaline substances, they are used for dislocations, fractures and sprains.

Super foods

The other super foods available with the dealers are sacha inchi, aguaje, acai, brazil nuts, goldenberry, yacon, etc. The Buriti is a non-timber forest resource that is used for different purposes such as beverage foods and construction decoration etc. The acai is a fruit that is consumed as a juice or the cassava flour made from acai is used in soups.

Herbs

The different herbs available are soursoup, huanarpo, cat’s claws, etc. The sour soups are used by the people since pre-Hispanic period and are used for medicinal preparations.  Cat’s claws are also used as an important medicinal plant. The huanarpo macho is used as an anti-arthritic and inflammatory substance consisting of flavonoids, sapogenins, and steroids, etc.
The different types of resins include copaiba oil and dragon’s blood.
