Things to do in Savannah Georgia

Savannah, GA is always a great place to pay a visit, whether you are alone looking for quite time or a family visit. There is so much you can do and see over the course of your visit. There is something for everyone, be it the iconic sights or the bubbling nightlife with its bars and pubs famous for their happy hour savannah experiences. This is a city at the coast and still you have a river, the Savannah River separating the city from South Carolina. This means there is plenty of water ways. Here is a list of things to do in Savannah.

  1. Parks

Savannah is famous for its parks and squares. Their beautiful landscapes is further enhanced by the magnolia blossoms and huge oak trees covered by Spanish moss for a breath-taking view. The Forsyth Park is the most famous of them straddling over 30 acres filled with fountains, trees and blooming plants of all seasons and several others perennial. It also plays host to the Farmers market on Saturdays. The Savannah Waterfront just next to the Savannah River. There are also other 22 squares in the city all offering ample space for jogging, sitting and picturesque views.

  1. Museums

Savannah is riffled with museums, galleries and aquariums for the person looking for a great time journeying down the memory lane. Some of the top museums include the Ships of the Sea Maritime Museum offering you a glimpse of the maritime affairs in the 18th and 19th century. You can also visit the Georgia State Railroad Museum or if you want taste at under water life then the University of Geordia’s Marine Education Center and Aquarium is the place to go. It hosts sixteen tanks of different marine life and has a number of fossils kids and anyone with such interest will be delighted.

  1. Tours

A stay in Savannah is not complete without a number of tours to its famous and historic places. There is the Cathedral of St. John the Baptist with its Gothic towers, stunning interiors and stained windows. There is the Bonaventure Cemetery with its beauty and history, the Old Fort Jackson and pretty much everything else in the old district including the Wormsloe historic site.

  1. Nightlife

Ultimately, every visit leads up to the night and you can decide to party hard or relax in the many lively and cool pubs and lounges in Savannah. You can enjoy the live music Savannah bands are well loved for in a variety of pubs, shoot pool, or sing karaoke.
