In a time where our children are spending as much time on phones, tablets and other devices as we are, it is important to ensure that kids are still engaging in other activities. One healthy alternative is children’s books, which have always played a vital role in bringing children up and educating them about the world. We all have our favourite books from childhood that have stuck with us into adulthood and this is something that everybody should have.

Not only can these books provide entertainment for little ones, but they are also instrumental in education. Reading these books with a parent is a great way to improve reading and speaking skills, plus many children’s stories contain important life lessons. This makes them valuable for small kids and older children alike. Another advantage that these stories bring is that it encourages your kids to spend time with you – these will be happy memories that you both share and will look back fondly on.

Now is a great time to pick up new stories as there are many winter sales on. It will not be too difficult to find a children’s book sale that is packed full of entertaining, educational and extremely valuable tales. This will be a brilliant present for your child and you will both enjoy reading through it together. There is an endless amount of amazing new and old books to consider, but here are a few to keep a look out for.

A Classic Case of Dr. Seuss

The Giving Tree by Shel Silverstein

The Gruffalo by Julia Donaldson

The Very Hungry Caterpillar by Eric Carle

Where the Wild Things Are by Maurice Sendak

Awful Auntie by David Walliams

Roald Dahl 15 Book Collection Box Set

My Family is Forever by Nancy Carlson

On the Night You Were Born by Nancy Tillman

Ultimate Mr. Men Gift Set

These are just a few of the current bestsellers to look out for, but there are so many more and it will not be hard to find one that is suitable for your child. One may even turn out to be their favourite book and it could be one that they will enjoy reading to their own child one day.

With so many people (kids and adults) seemingly glued to their screens these days, it has become particularly important for parents to take steps to connect with their children. Classic kid’s books are a superb way to do this and it is highly recommended that you read with your child on a regular basis. In addition to bringing you closer together, it will also help with their development too.
