What is HYIP? Is it Safe?

HYIP stands for High Yield Investment Program. It promises a high return on investment, a pledge that entices anyone with spare money to try the program.

There are hundreds and hundreds of HYIP sites that promise one thing – high return of investment (ROI). There are sites that even provide a monitor to convince possible investors how easy it is to earn money online. But, is it safe?

High Expectations from High Yield Investment Program

The High Yield Investment Program promises to give the investors a high profit. There are operators that promise to give 45% return per month and other operators even promise more than that.

If you try to search for the HYIP sites to invest your money, you will see a number of them. There may be sites that offer legitimate business (with a much lower percentage of ROI), but expect that most of them are scammers. These scammers often use vague explanations on how they can provide such high returns every month. They often tell their investors that they are experts in different types of trading on a variety of stock markets.

There are HYIP sites that also follow the pyramid scheme. These sites persuade their investors to recruit other investors to join and invest. In return, the recruiter will get additional income.

The trouble with a pyramid scheme is that the ones on top are the only individuals who get to enjoy the full benefit of the pyramid scheme. The pyramid scheme always fails in the end. Don’t expect to gain anything anymore when there are no more new recruits to add to your down line.

It Rarely Lasts

The online HYIP schemes don’t last for a long time.

  • Most HYIP sites only stay online up to 18 months.
  • There are numerous sites that have been closed and some have pending cases.
  • The scammers know how to entice investors and the moment they got what they want, they disappear without a trace.

Most sites only stay active for a few months, and then create another site to lure another set of investors. Some even own more than two sites at a time.

There is nothing wrong with wanting to gain extra money online, but you need to be really careful in choosing where to invest your money. It is best to read the reviews and investigate the site first. Even if your friend recommends a certain investment site, don’t take a plunge right away. The HYIP may look promising, but remember that you are taking a great risk when you choose to invest in such program.
