Business Continuity and Disaster Recovery

When you run a business you try and make sure that everything is backed up. Imagine you have multiple employees working on a major project and your system crashes. It could even be something like a natural disaster that completely renders your system useless. So how do you get that information back? How do you insure that the data you have is safe? Business continuity and disaster recovery planning is the answer which can help you with all of those needs.

What does it entail?

Business continuity disaster recovery, otherwise known as bcdr, is a system that allows for uninterrupted business in case of a disaster. Bcdr ensures that all data can be recovered quickly to prevent any loss in business. With continuous replication, your data is constantly up to date and is saved in a separate location where you can always retrieve it. It’s synced in real time so you don’t lose any data.

When disaster strikes, the backup allows for the system to restart and integrate everything, including network settings, applications, etc. back to where it was before the disaster happened. This is beneficial because you don’t have to work with the tech team to try and get up and running again, reconfiguring networks, etc. It’s just like having a copy of your entire system waiting to be reopened when ready.

Benefits of a Program like This

The benefits of a system like this are abundant. One of the key elements is that it doesn’t affect the daily flow of your current system as it works in the background. No interruption of performance is key to making sure that your company still works well and fluidly. Having the system update in real time, which is called continuous data protection, means that there is minimal, if any, data loss when disaster strikes. And it’s not just monitoring your physical information and systems, it’s also monitoring and saving cloud based and other types of workloads so you won’t be gaining back just part of your information, but all of it.

Is It Safe?

Yes it is safe. Everything that you send is encrypted in transit so your data isn’t getting there in its original form, it’s already been securely changed to prevent others from stealing the data. Security is especially important because it can have a wide variety of consequences from data breach of personal information to confidential proprietary information as well. It would be loss of business and trust for you as a company and that’s not something anyone wants.

Backing up data is really important for any business. Information is the cornerstone of keeping the company running and getting it back up and running in the event of a disaster which, if not recoverable, could mean the end of the business. You don’t want that to happen, so having a backup that works efficiently could be the answer to your company’s business continuity disaster recovery program.
