Technical Basics: The market has two main types of cork floor tiles nowadays. The first or the standard type is the glue-down type. An adhesive is required for securing this kind of tile in place. The standard size is 12x12 and it is 4mm thick. These tiles may also come in larger sizes and different shapes.

The second type are cork tile floorings that are available in planks. Cork floor planks consist of a cork base of 2mm with an MDF board in the middle and a 3mm top layer made of cork wood. These planks are usually sold with a polyurethane finish.

Installation:

The process of installation for both of these types of tile flooring are similar. A strong adhesive material must be used for both of these floorings to ensure that the cork planks or tiles you are using will stay in place. Avoid using flexible glues as due to variations in humidity the cork tile floors may expand or contract.
