Everything You Need To Know About GE Magne-Blast Circuit Breaker

Posted by Bullock Breakers on March 3rd, 2017

Magne-Blast is a removable and interchangeable circuit interrupting element used in the metal-clad circuit breakers. It is used for reliable control and protection of electrical appliance and power systems. The AM-4.16-250 Magne-Blast circuit breakers are available with continuous current ratings of 1200 amperes and 2000 amperes according to applicable industry standards. GE is a leading manufacturer of high-quality circuit breakers including the Magne-Blast circuit breakers.

Magne-Blast circuit breakers are medium-voltage, vertical lift circuit breakers that are available as FK, FKD, FKA, and VIB medium and high-voltage outdoor distribution breakers. They are also available as ARA generator breakers and ATB high-voltage transmission breakers. You can choose according to your specific needs from type MC and AG DC breakers.

The Magne-Blast circuit breakers have two major components responsible for effective functioning, i.e. the breaker element and the operating mechanism. They are discussed here.

Breaker Element: The breaker element has three similar pole units and each of them includes the current carrying parts, main and arcing contacts, interrupter, and enclosing barrier system that creates insulation between poles or phases and to the ground. The primary connections to the associated metal-clad switchgear are made through the ball contacts that are located at the top of the breaker bushings.

Operating Mechanism: The operating mechanism is of the ML-13 stored energy type which is designed to give high-speed opening and closing. The mechanism operates on AC or DC voltage as indicated on the breaker nameplate. The closing and opening operations are controlled either electrically from the metal-clad unit and remote location or mechanically from the manual close and trip levers on the breaker. The secondary connections from the breaker to the metal-clad unit are made through the coupler.

All the parts and components in the particular circuit breaker are designed according to the improved specifications. The benefit of purchasing directly from GE is that you will receive fast delivery of spare parts for maintenance in case of a need. They also provide engineering support for specific industrial requirements. With the genuine GE parts the lifespan of the product is extended as they are designed and manufactured by original manufacturers. Original parts are easy to install, and thus you will save a lot of time in maintenance.

Magne-Blast circuit breakers are also called past-century circuit breakers. Some of the older designs of these circuit breakers are not used anymore, but if someone needs them for old industrial applications, then they can be of irreplaceable. Another significant benefit of using switchgear is that GE offers sufficient maintenance and servicing solutions for this particular type of design making them easier for you to use and maintain.
