When people are involved in the non-profit services, they don’t expect anything from anybody.  Since they work with dedication and commitment towards others welfare, as a rule they will attract many likeminded people into their circle. This is an obvious thing and world is ruled by all good thoughts and actions.  When such services or health care is started by a group of friends then it is the aptly named as friendly society.  The doctors who are providing the diagnosis, and treatment and nursing is providing these services at a nominal fee and any profits earned by public is reinjected into the hospital on patients so that they can get cured from their disease as soon as possible.  It is well known that doctors in Bundaberg serving their community members and patients who are visiting the hospital in search of quality care and treatment at an affordable price tag.

It is not a joking thing to maintain such a good hospital without expecting any profit.  Almost a century old hospital serving people with dedication and humble attitude is worth appreciation.  They have covered many milestones in the first century of selfless service.  What was once a pharmacy/dispensary later turned out into a hospital when the friendly society pharmacy purchased the hospital run by Miss Agnes Novakoski in the year 1946.  The vegetables grown in the garden of the hospitals were used for the daily meals of the in patients.

After 1946 there is no turning back for the society as it went on and on expanding by acquiring new places and now it is standing majestically with six storeys building on the corner of Quay and Barolin streets by investing nearly one million dollars for the construction and infrastructure facilities.  In the year of 2011 the total investment over the infrastructure facilities and equipment has been whooping 28 million dollars that includes technology as well.  Last year, they have completed works on medical consulting suites in Croftan Street.  A charitable and fund raising arm has been launched by the board of directors in the month of April in 2016.  This allowed the community to support the expansion program of the society and it has introduced day Oncology unit.

Well-built, properly maintained operation theatres equipped with all emergency machineries and medical supplies with four full swing units and adding unit 5 within a short period of time is the strength of the hospital. The infrastructure and other facilities of the hospital is unique shining like dense greenery in the landscape of health care in Australia.  Now they are successfully providing services in the following areas of clinical care and nursing

  • Clinical and friendly services
  • Friendly society pharmacy
  • Physiotherapy Services
  • After hours medical Services
  • Veteran Services

Apart from this they are organizing the friendlies high county tour.  There is also a patient care service centre at the hospital.  The directory is provided so that one can search for doctors and expert surgeons to get exactly the type of medical attention and treatment you wish to get from the society.
